Tuesday, June 24 - French Sumo
For years, in contact with numerous jazz cats, rubbed shoulders on the most diverse stages from clubs to the most prestigious jazz festivals, in France and abroad, the trio French Sumo has forged a repertoire filled with energy. It has drawn from the swing "bop" of Monty Alexander or Oscar Peterson, the Latin fusion of Michel Camilo or the Trio Trio Mocotó, the mocking and French lyricism of Claude Nougaro, the verve of Gilbert Bécaud or the elegance of Michel Legrand, always with a dynamic and original look at jazz music.
Yves SCOTTO (piano), Bernard CESARI (drums), Jean-Paul ARTERO (double bass)
Partner winemaker: Vignobles de Ramatuelle
Wednesday June 25 - The Swinging Monkeys
Brought together by the American jazz of the 1930s and 1940s, The Swinging Monkeys formed in 2023 in Aix-en-Provence. Inspired by Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey, Sidney Béchet, and The Ink Spots, the quartet brings the most beautiful jazz songs back to life. Captivating vocal harmonies and wild solos create a decidedly festive swing!
Maxime Merlin (saxophone and vocals), Baptiste Serve (electric guitar), Morgan Nourisson (acoustic guitar) and Victor Teyssedre (double bass)
Partner winemaker: Cave Torpez
Thursday, June 26 - Jean-Marie Carniel Trio
The new project led by Toulon bassist Jean-Marie Carniel is marked by temptations of binary, in the style of EST, and also by a swing where the odd prevails, opening a sensitive dialogue between these three renowned musicians of the regional scene. The leader deploys an art of counterpoint that Scott LaFaro would not have denied. The melodies, natural and evidently poetic, circulate freely within a trio where the specter of the prestigious Bill Evans Trio haunts the proposals.
Original music, energy, interplay, it's beautiful!
Jean-Marie CARNIEL (double bass), Stéphane BERNARD (piano) Thierry LAROSA (drums)
Partner winemaker: Domaine La Tourraque
Friday, June 27 – Dexter Jazz Quartet
This quartet of musicians from diverse backgrounds was born at the initiative of Michel Gagnac, a former jazz teacher at the Intercommunal Conservatory. From this encounter emerged an original interpretation of jazz standards from yesterday and today. A journey paying tribute to Miles Davis, Don Grolnick, Omar Avital, Kenny Barron, and Richie Beirach, with arrangements highlighting solo melodies. All sprinkled with compositions from the quartet.
Mathieu SAMANI (saxophones), Hervé DUCLOS (piano), Michel GAGNAC (double bass), Jean-Claude CARRION (drums)
Partner winemaker: Domaine des Tournels
