NORM (Norman Gervais) is a multi-hatted musician and his musical genre is a fusion of pop music, Latin-inspired down tempo electro and jazz which is called “Outsider Pop Balearic Beat”.

When he plays in clubs, Norman is sensitive to the cold atmospheres of the European electronic and dance scenes of the 80s and 90s. He shares the line up of multiple DJs such as Palms Trax, Kamma & Masalo, Mendel, Barbara Boeing, Habibi Funk, John Gomez or Trujillo, across Europe, North America, Brazil and Lebanon.

His musical biography and influences

Norm creates his music in his home studio in Brussels, where he has lived for 3 years.

The artist who grew up in Plan de la Tour continued his education in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez where he had his first musical experiences at the Rostropovitch Landowski Conservatory. He studies drums, guitar, keyboard. As part of his studies, he traveled and discovered Sydney, Oslo, Portland, Amsterdam... so many large cities which broadened his influences and his musical discoveries. “That’s when I started collecting records and exploring new musical genres to find forgotten or unfairly overlooked pieces,” he says.

In 2016, he founded the Bayetë collective with two friends, shared their musical discoveries and created a YouTube channel to publish their digital record collection. This platform allows them to make themselves known to the general public and to be invited to broadcast their records on radio shows (NTS, Rinse, Le Mellotron). They play their selections in clubs and festivals internationally.

In 2019, they launched the Native Dance label, distributed by the Early Distro (IT) & Rush Hour (NL) labels, in order to share extracts of their favorite tracks reissued in a format suitable for DJs. Always on the lookout for self-produced records and other musical curiosities, he offers them for sale via his Memorabilia webshop.
