Festival Jazz à Ramatuelle (39° édition)
Description
Baptiste Herbin, saxophone
André Ceccarelli, drums
Sylvain Romano, double bass
The preparation of this album was exceptionally fluid. We imagined a thousand ways to evoke Django Reinhardt, through his era, his compositions, his solos, and in the eyes of those who paid tribute to him. Each idea and each suggestion offered to Baptiste was crowned with lively and stimulating responses, as if, little by little, the language of the brilliant gypsy seemed to embrace his own, natural, inhabited, and gushing. It remained for the music to find its place.
Thus, in the trio's nakedness, nothing is missing and everything is crystal clear. Baptiste Herbin reveals himself to be exceptionally profound. His incomparable virtuosity gives way to an expression freed from all will, which reveals, like a rough diamond, the essence of the music. We then rediscover, amazed, Django's work in a new, authentic, collective, and continually stimulating incarnation.
Baptiste Herbin, under his guidance, became a master himself and soared to the heights of inspiration frequented by the greatest.
Django! reveals an artist at the height of his powers, and celebrates the birth of an exceptional trio.
